FAQs

I am glad you are here! If you have questions that you don’t see answered below, please reach out and I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Who do you serve?

I work with individuals and couples that reside in the state of California.

Do you work with kids?

I primarily work with adults ages 20+. But I do occasionally work with children. I have training and experience working with children ages 5-18. If you are an adolescent or a parent interested in specialized support around sexual issues, send me a message and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Can I work with you to address concerns that are not related to trauma, sex, or relationships?

Yes! While these are the areas I specialize in, I am happy to support clients with a variety of presenting concerns. Anxiety, perfectionism, depression, and low self-esteem are often the underlying cause of sexual issues, so I am experienced in working with these aspects of mental health. I would be honored to support you in working through challenges related to work, phase of life, transitions, and more. However, if you have support needs that are more specialized (e.g, ASD, psychosis, eating disorder treatment, personality disorder, etc), I may refer you to a specialist to ensure you receive the highest standard of care.

What are your fees?

My fees have been changing, so shoot me a message and I will provide you with an up to date break down of fees.

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance but I do provide superbills upon request. A superbill is a receipt of our sessions that you can provide to your insurance for hopeful reimbursement.

What is Sex Therapy?

Sex Therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy focused on addressing sexual concerns, dysfunctions, and relational issues related to sexuality. This type of therapy aims to help individuals and couples improve their sexual well-being, enhance intimacy, and resolve sexual difficulties in a safe and supportive environment.

Sex therapy addresses a range of sexual concerns, including sexual dysfunctions (such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and vaginismus), low libido, and difficulties with sexual arousal or orgasm.

Sexuality exploration in sex therapy supports individuals and couples explore and understand their sexual needs, desires, and preferences. This includes addressing issues related to sexual orientation, identity, and sexual expression.

How does it work?

Sex therapy is the same as typical talk therapy, but with a specialization in working with sexual issues.

Who can receive sex therapy?

Anyone! Sex therapy can be a powerful tool in releasing shame, negative core beliefs, and other blocks to having a fulfilling sex life. For many people, this is the first time they have ever had a space where they feel comfortable to openly talk about the intricacies of their sexual experiences, fantasies, pain points, and hopes without fear of judgment. It is truly my honor to hold this space for my clients.

Can I only talk about sex and relationships in sex therapy?

No! You can talk about anything you want. In fact, sexual issues do not occur in a vacuum. So we will often be exploring many aspects of your lived experience to develop a holistic picture of the factors that may be impacting your sexual functioning and relationships. Many of my clients originally come to therapy to address a sexual issue, but their goals often change over time and that’s not only okay, but natural and great. I am here to support my clients in navigating what ever is present for them.

Some common therapeutic goals for sex therapy are:

  • Improving Sexual Function

  • Enhancing Intimacy

  • Resolving Sexual Issues

  • Healing from Sexual Trauma

  • Improving Body Image and Self-Esteem

  • Improving Relationship Dynamics

  • Improving Communication Skills
